Personality Before Portfolio

Who are you in relation to your work?

Photographers are very good in the images they make, but often lack the ability to communicate about them and themselves as creatives/artists. In this workshop, Erik Kessels will push the participants to communicate more clearly about themselves and improve their personality in their work. Being the author or the promoter of your work are two completely different skills.

Kessels will prepare the participants for their possibilities and obstructions they will face in their creative professional career. Participants work on several tasks to get to know more about their own personality.

Erik Kessels is a Dutch artist, designer and curator with a special interest in photography. He collects photographs, has published several photo books and curated exhibitions. In his projects, he likes to combine existing things in new ways. Since 1996, he has also been co-founder and creative partner of the communications agency KesselsKramer in Amsterdam and London.

Alle sind herzlich eingeladen, sich für unseren Open Call „A FANTASTIC EXPLOSION“ zu bewerben. Egal, ob du digital, analog oder experimentell fotografierst, du kannst bis zu 3 Fotos für unsere erste bevorstehende Ausstellung einreichen, die sich mit der reichen, radikalen Schnittstelle zwischen Queer-Theorie und Ökologie befasst.

Was passiert, wenn wir die Vorstellung davon, was „natürlich“ ist, hinterfragen? Wie kann uns die Fotografie dabei helfen, die natürliche Welt – und uns selbst – als fließend, miteinander verbunden und sich ständig verändernd zu sehen?

You are all invited to apply for our Open Call „A FANTASTIC EXPLOSION“. Whether you are a digital, analogue or experimental photographer, you can submit up to 3 photos for our first upcoming exhibition exploring the rich, radical intersection of Queer Theory and Ecology.

What happens when we challenge the idea of what is “natural”? How can photography help us envision the natural world – and ourselves – as fluid, interconnected and ever-changing?
