BULB 6000 is a hub for dialogue and exchange around contemporary photography, both locally and internationally.

BULB 6000 is a space for exploring photography through exhibitions, talks, workshops and collaborations with artists.

The name BULB is inspired by the photographic 'bulb' mode - long exposure setting on a camera that allow observation over time. Just as the camera shutter remains open in bulb mode, BULB 6000 invites an open and ongoing exploration of photographic practice.

BULB 6000’s sections are:

SHOW
A public program featuring talks, exhibitions, screenings, and open calls that highlight contemporary photographic work.

WORKSHOP

CLUB
A bimonthly meetup for photographers from the city and region to connect, share work, discuss topics like archiving or personal rights, and join events like peer-reviews, film nights, and a secondhand photo market.

SHOP
A curated shop offering photobooks, art books, zines, prints, handmade camera obscuras.

The Space
The second-floor venue includes:
- a main room for exhibitions, workshops and events
- a second room dedicated to the SHOP
- a small darkroom

Our location in the center of Lucerne is part of a vibrant artistic environment, a house with other emerging artists and creatives from the Lucerne art and photography scene.

Why Lucerne?
Lucerne has a rich photographic heritage, from hosting the
World Exhibition of Photography in 1952 - the first photography exhibition of its kind in Europe - to publishing the internationally acclaimed magazine Camera for almost 60 years. It is a little-known fact that Europe’s first photography museum was supposed to be built in Lucerne.

Who We Are
BULB 6000 is initiated by Lucerne-based artists
Mischa Christen, Daniela Ardiri and Patrick Blank.
